REPORT
ON KLAVA MEMBERS PARTICIPANTS IN ROAD RELAY DURING 2004
Overall,
2004 was another outstanding year for KLAVA members involvement in road
relay events – having won quite a number of first, 2nd & 3rd
placing in some of the major road relay events in the country. In fact,
there were improvement over the previous years.
Due to the lack of incoming funds, KLAVA subsidy for these team events have
been drastically reduced this year. Nevertheless, the undersigned managed to
find some sponsors in order for the members to participate. Sometimes, we
have no choice but to run under the sponsor’s banner, that being the terms
of their sponsorship.
This year, KLAVA members participated in all 6 of the known road relay
events throughout Malaysia. Please refer to the attachments for summary of
results.
Also, there was a slight improvement in the response from KLAVA women.
During MMAA’s second Sports Carnival, some KLAVA ladies ran for us in the
absent of Pacesetters teams for which they are also members. Hence, we won
both the women’s junior and senior veteran events. However, we are still
unable to field any women’s team for some other outside events. If only
the undersigned can get them (the ladies) to continue running for KLAVA.
How ?
Meanwhile, all the members must make efforts to recruit new members,
especially women age 35 – 44 years (Junior veteran) for which we don’t even
have enough to form a team of three ! If we can get a group of competitive
runners we can form a team to participate in the Penang’s Round The Houses
Road Relay under the women’s veteran category scheduled for 17 April 2005.
With good planning, better preparation and the supporting budget, we aim to
improve further in our quest for glory in the good name of KLAVA. All the
good results will generate good publicity which in turn will attract
sponsors.
Finally the undersigned hope that all the runners will continue to
represent KLAVA and in return they be duly rewarded in future for their
efforts and loyalty with KLAVA all these years. As a token sum of
appreciation, the undersigned proposed some form of awards i.e. trophies
etc. for various excellent performance. Let us hear it from the Exco
members ?
