REPORT
ON THE MMAA 2ND SPORT CARNIVAL ROAD RELAY, 2/10/04
Inspite of the considerably
short notice from the organisers, the undersigned managed to contact KLAVA
members to form 12 teams to participate. However, on race day, 3 of the
agreed runners didn’t turn up and as a result, 1 of the teams were unable to
participate.
In team events such as these where there are no provision for reserve
runners, any absentee will cause a shortage of runner resulting in a team
non-participation. This is especially disappointing for their teammates and
also will caused a reshuffle to other team runners in order to remain
competitive and make do with the next best runner/s. In view of these, it’s
only fair that the name/s of absentee/s be noted and may not be considered
for future team events with the exception of valid reasons.
Our teams performance, as usual (ahem!) we did quite well. We were champions
in 4 out of the total 5 categories. Our men’s 40 ~ 49 years teams would have
swept all the first 3 placings if not for 3 other KLAVA better runners who
were unable to participate. Our men 60 years & above ‘A’ team would finish
better if only our second runner not strayed off the road an additional one
km! For details result, please refer below.
In the absent of Pacesetters
women team participation, 3 of our former KLAVA runners, namely Lee Shew
Kheng, Lim Siew Cheng and Wendy Soo represented KLAVA. Naturally, they came
in first. We hope to get them to run for KLAVA in future even if Pacesetters
teams participated. How ??? In future, the undersigned also hope that those
who have faithfully represented and won for KLAVA throughout the years be
rewarded as a show of appreciation and recognition for their commitments and
dedication. These are the athletes who helps to publicised the good name of
KLAVA in sport with their accomplishment, brought fame & glory to us. Agreed

P/S. The
next team road relay is the Penang Round The Island R/Relay on 12/12/04.
KLAVA have participated for the past 3 consecutive years. Last year we were
runners up. We hope to be champion this year if KLAVA were to field a team.
Now is the time to begin serious preparation upon confirmation of
participation.
