KLAVA SELECTION FOR PENANG ROUND THE ISLAND ROAD RELAY 17/12/06

KLAVA will be holding a session of time trials for its members to select runners to participate in the abovementioned event. Since the actual relay route consist of both flat & hilly terrain, the time trials will be held on 2 types of terrain to simulate both. The hilly terrain trial will be held in Taman Rimba Bukit Kiara while the flat terrain trail will be at Taman Metropolitan Kepong. Details are as follows:

Date:4/12/06(Mon); 5/12/06(Tue) & 12/12/06(Mon) @ Taman Rimba Bukit Kiara.

Time: 6.00pm. Warming up commence.

Direction: From PJ/Damansara, enter Tmn Tun Dr.Ismail (TTDI), look for the 1 & only tall office building, IBM Tower. Upon reaching, proceed to end of the road where there will be full of cars parked along the road up the hill at this hour. Meet somewhere near the guardpost with a boom gate.

Date: 7/12/06(Thur);8/12/06(Fri) & 12/12/06(Tue) @ Taman Metropolitan Kepong.

Time: 6pm. Warming up commence.

Direction: From Middle Ring Road 2, Batu Cave, proceed over the Jln Ipoh intersection roundabout towards FRIM/Damansara/Sg. Buloh via continuation of this road. The park with its large pond & jogging track can be seen on the left hand side about 2 km from the said roundabout. Meet at the long bridge / cause way located about 1/2km inside the park near the apartment under construction.

Members must participate in at least 1 of each venue (i.e. take part in both terrain) in order to be consider for selection into the team. Criteria for selection will be based on the best timing clocked for both the venue.

Members who performed well and have proven themselves officially in the recent major road races such as the Kledang Hill Run; Bidor 10/21 km run; Kelab Road Runners Ipoh 12km Cross-country; Subang Jaya 10km Run; IOI Community Run; Selayang Run; Cabaran Gunong Nuang. during Oct/Nov 06. may be considered. They should finished among the top 20 in combined veteran & top 10 in the Snr veteran. Exemption from time trail may be considered for the elite runners i.e. Malaysia overall veteran top 10 ranking should they be unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances. Amount the regular runners, We know where we stand (placing) right ? Cannot be very far off because there are normally no surprises for distance beyond 5 km unless one is off form or injured.
